Hotels on Bora Bora are located on the south shore of the main island and on the motu's or small islands on the rim of the lagoon. Since the airport too is located on a motu, boat transfers to hotels and to the main island are obligatory.
Bora Bora is expensive as everything has to be shipped in including drinking water. So hotel rooms are costly but you can do it cheap by staying in traditional family-run pensiones on any island around here.
The Pension le Paradis on Motu Paahi has seven fare or traditional Tahitian huts. Bright and breezy there is no television, refrigerator or phone. Each fare has a private shower and toilet and mosquito netting. A larger thatched fare serves as the restaurant and pedal boats, kayaks and snorkeling gear allow guests to explore the waters.
The most exclusive deluxe hotel on the island is the Le Meridien Bora Bora. It consists of hundred Polynesian style thatched bungalows built either over the water on stilts or on the beach surrounded by the lagoon , offering great views of the island along with the ultimate privacy. |
